Full Description & Details

Senj Marina is a small, working harbor on the mainland coast of Croatia, set on the east side of the Velebitski Channel. The town of Senj surrounds the marina, with the medieval Fortress Nehaj and the Senj Museum nearby. The harbor is naturally sheltered, but it is exposed to the bora wind, which blows here two-thirds of the year, often at gale force, because the Velebitski Mountains rise 1,400 meters above sea level.

The marina offers about 100 berths for medium-sized boats, with a maximum length of 30 meters and a maximum draft of 13 meters, though typical depths range from 3 to 7 meters. Each berth has water and electricity, and the marina provides fuel, showers, restrooms, Wi-Fi, a restaurant, and a crane. Guest mooring is available in the large dock in the middle of the bay, and the pier heads are fired.

The port also has a customs station, commercial quay, and fishing pier, serving local fishing and commercial traffic alongside recreational boats. The single user review on Navily rates hospitality, cleanliness, services, shops, and tourism all at 1 out of 5, so expectations for facilities and service should be modest.

How to get there

Navigating into Senj Marina requires attention to local conditions, especially the bora wind. Sailors are advised to stay close to St. Ambrose breakwater to the north or Marija Arat to the south when sailing in. Be cautious of a large heap of piled-up rocks extending from the south breakwater; during the bora, mooring near the south breakwater can be dangerous, so careful navigation and entry are essential.

The harbor is on the east side of the Velebitski Channel, and the entrance and main docking areas have depths from 3 to 7 meters, with a maximum depth of 13 meters reported. The nearest airports are in Rijeka and Zadar, from where you can drive or take a bus to Senj. The port is conveniently located near the town center, providing easy access to shops, restaurants, and other amenities.

Road access is well-connected by the local road network, and limited public transport options are available, mainly local bus services.
