Full Description & Details
Baska Harbour is the town harbour of Baska, a lively seaside resort on the southeastern tip of the island of Krk in Croatia. The harbour sits in a bay between two mountain ranges, with the mainland peaks rising over 1,600 metres. It is a working town port rather than a large marina: the inner harbour is not very big and is mostly occupied by local boats.
Visiting yachts can moor at the outer end of the eastern breakwater, where stern-to moorings are available, though these are also often taken in season. Depths range from 3.0 to 4.0 metres, so the harbour suits medium-draft vessels. The holding is good on a sandy seabed, and in settled weather you can anchor west of the harbour, clear of the swimming areas.
Protection is good from all directions except the south wind, which can make the harbour uncomfortable.
How to get there
Approach Baska Harbour on the south coast of Krk. The harbour is usually crowded with sightseeing boats and pleasure craft, especially in summer, but a visiting yacht may find room at the outer end of breakwater E. Enter with caution and be ready to pick up a mooring or anchor. The harbour is not protected from the south wind (Jugo), so check the forecast before committing.
The nearest airport is Rijeka Airport (RJK), about 40 km away; from there take a taxi or rental car across the bridge to Krk and follow the road to Baska. The harbour is in the town centre, with the old town, restaurants, bars and shops just behind the quay.
