Full Description & Details

Klenovica Harbour is a fishing port on the Kvarner coast, sheltered by a breakwater. The main quay runs along the breakwater and doglegs to the left, with around 15 bollards providing electricity and water, some with three-phase supply. An older quay opposite is used mainly by fishing boats, and local vessels moor at the head of the bay near a slipway.

Depths range from 3 to 6 metres along the inner breakwater, up to 3.5 metres at the older quay, and 1.4 metres where local boats lie. Shallow-draft vessels can anchor near the causeway to the islet of Sv Anton, by the campsite. The harbour is reasonably protected from the Bora but exposed to winds from the northwest through west to south, so caution is advised during westerly and southwesterly winds.

The port is being expanded, with another breakwater and two bridges planned. A boat lift is available.

How to get there

The harbour has a green light at the end of the breakwater, though some pilot books only mention the white light on the islet Sv Anton to the south, which is connected to the mainland by a rubble causeway. Approach with care in winds from the northwest through west to south, as the bay is exposed in these directions. Depths on the inner side of the breakwater are 3 to 6 metres, so moderate-draft vessels can enter safely.

There are a couple of buoys on the dogleg for bow- or stern-to mooring, and laid lines may be available. Keep a safe distance from the wharf and use reinforced lines, especially in westerly or southwesterly winds.
