Full Description & Details
Marina Zadar sits in the heart of the three-thousand-year-old city of Zadar on Croatia's central Adriatic coast. The marina occupies a naturally sheltered bay directly in front of the old town, providing access to over 300 islands, islets and rocks of the Zadar and Kornati archipelagos. This location makes it a favoured starting point for cruising sailors and a home port for several charter companies.
The marina offers 300 wet berths with water and electricity connections, plus 200 dry berths. Depths range from 1.0 to 6.0 metres, with a maximum draft of 8 metres and maximum LOA of 80 metres accommodated. The harbour basin is narrow, and declining water depth in the rear section requires careful navigation. Large ferries at the town quay opposite can complicate entry at times. A 15-tonne crane is available for lifting operations. Sanitary facilities with showers and toilets are located in the office building and were renovated in 2007, though queues can form during peak periods.
Fuel is available at a station opposite the town quay with two jetties, though only one serves yachts; the other is reserved for fishing boats. Waiting times can reach two hours at weekends. The marina has a chandlery for nautical equipment, while the nearby town centre offers supermarkets, bakeries, butchers and a daily fruit, vegetable and fish market at the southern harbour. A restaurant and cafe-bar on the waterfront serve Dalmatian specialities with views of the historic centre. Engine repair services are available, and there is ample parking in a large car park next to the office building.
The marina operates year-round with office hours from 07:00 to 21:00 during the summer season (May to October) and 08:00 to 16:00 in winter. VHF channels 16 and 17 are monitored. The facility is approximately 10 kilometres from Zadar Airport. Berthing assistance is provided, and the marina has 24/7 security with camera surveillance.
How to get there
Marina Zadar is approached from the north of the petrol station in a well-protected bay. The narrow harbour basin and limited space between docks require precise navigation, particularly in crosswinds. Vessels without bow thrusters may find docking challenging in side winds.
Large ferries using the town quay opposite can obstruct entry at times, so monitor ferry movements before approaching. Contact the marina on VHF channels 16 or 17 for berthing instructions. The marina is located in the centre of Zadar, approximately 10 kilometres from Zadar Airport.
The historic old town is within walking distance, and a large car park is situated next to the office building. The fuel station lies opposite the town quay with two jetties; yachts must use the jetty directly in front of the fuel station building, as the other is reserved for fishing boats.
