Full Description & Details
Marina Admiral occupies the southeast section of Opatija harbour in the centre of this historic resort town on Croatia's Istrian coast. The marina forms part of the Hotel Admiral complex, giving berth holders access to hotel amenities including a swimming pool, sauna and hairdresser. The facility is owned by the Liburnia Riviera Hotel group and operates year-round, making it the only yacht marina in Opatija.
The marina provides 160 wet berths for yachts up to 30 metres, plus 40 dry berths. All wet berths include water and power supply. Entrance and marina depths are 4.0 metres. The marina is well protected from all winds and waves, though bora and sirocco winds may occasionally cause swells. Vessels berth bows or stern-to on five piers or along the quays, with laid moorings at all berths. The marina is particularly suitable for smaller boats and speedboats. Pricing for vessels over 20 metres is negotiated separately.
Facilities include a reception office, showers and toilets, laundry service, ecological waste management, and constant surveillance and security. A 5-tonne capacity crane serves the hard standing area. Services available include towing, tractor use, intervention for broken ropes, warehouse rental (48 units), and boat underside cleaning. The marina offers basic engine, electrical and electronic repairs. On-site amenities include a restaurant, cafe/bar, minimarket, telephone and exchange office. Marina liability insurance is provided. The facility is accessible for disabled visitors.
Opatija lies on the west side of the Gulf of Kvarner, six miles west of Rijeka port and 11 miles north of Cres island. The Harbour Master's Office in Opatija operates at Zert 3 from 07:00-14:00, closed Sundays. Vessels entering Croatia must proceed to the nearest international border crossing for formalities and vignette purchase.
How to get there
There are no dangers in the approach to Marina Admiral from seaward. The marina entrance is from the northeast. The port light on the breakwater head (red) and the large white building of Hotel Admiral above serve as landmarks.
When entering, keep clear of the breakwater head due to stone blocks in the water. An underwater pipeline lies in front of the marina towards the east-southeast. Call Marina Admiral on VHF channel 17 prior to entry.
Berthing assistance is available. Entry can be difficult in strong onshore winds. The old harbour of Opatija lies approximately one mile north of Marina Admiral and contains the fuel dock, though visiting yachts will struggle to find space there due to local moorings.
The marina is situated in central Opatija with shops and facilities within 10 minutes' walk. The Harbour Master's Office is located at Zert 3, telephone +385 51 711 249.
