Location

Marina Porto di Levante, also known as the Port of Levante, is located in the East of Italy, in the province of Rovigo, to the south of Alborella Island on the Adriatic Sea. Marina Porto Levante is nestled within the Po Delta, an area recognized as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. This location offers a unique blend of natural beauty and biodiversity, making it an exceptional destination for both recreational boating and nature exploration. The marina is located approximately 40 km from Rovigo, 70 km from Padua and Ferrara, 100 km from Vicenza, 130 km from Bologna, 140 km from Mantua, 160 km from Verona, and 290 km from Milan.

Approach to the Marina

Most harbors in the Po Delta are reached through shallow, winding channels, requiring careful attention to navigation marks and pilotage instructions. Entry should be avoided during fog or strong onshore winds.

Approach the harbor via the northern outlet of the Po di Levante river estuary at 45°04.680’N, 012°21.840’E, situated between two long training walls oriented NNW. Maintain a bearing of 240 degrees on a conspicuous water tower with two concrete rings until you enter the river. The approach depths are around 5.0 meters but shoal to 2.5 meters or less outside the safe channel, so entry is best attempted on a rising tide near high water. Once in the river, depths range from 4.0 to 5.0 meters. Stay in the center of the channel to maintain these depths; the port side of the channel is marked with concrete and wooden posts. The channel curves east just after passing Marina di Albarella before turning west again towards the training walls at the entrance to the Po di Levante river. Do not enter the river; instead, pass south of the training walls along the channel marked with wooden posts on the port side.

Following the lagoon’s channel markers (known locally as “briccole”) for about one nautical mile, mariners then turn right for an additional 400 meters. The marina entrance is located at the base of the southerly training wall and indicated by a white light on the channel marker, with red and green lights marking the port and starboard sides of the entrance, respectively. The marina boasts a draft of 3.5 meters at the quay, accommodating a variety of vessels.
