The city of Muğla Yalıkavak is set to be the backdrop of an international maritime spectacle as the fourth edition of the Turkish Presidential International Yacht Race sets sail on Tuesday, under the auspices of the Turkish Presidency.
The Halikarnas 100th Anniversary Cup, renowned for its dazzling show of sailing prowess, is poised to illuminate the pristine waters of Turkey, hosting a series of riveting races that will test the sailing acumen of competitors from across the globe.
This grand event, with backing from the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, in partnership with the Muğla Governorship and primary sponsorship from DHL Express, is expertly curated by the Turkish Sailing Federation. The race brings together marine aficionados and sailing enthusiasts in a union of shared passion and admiration for the sea.
As the final day of preparation unfolds, a palpable sense of exhilaration electrifies the air amongst the competing teams, promising a thrilling synthesis of intense competition and a visual spectacle, courtesy of the stunningly azure waters that encircle this captivating country.
From Tuesday to Sunday, the inaugural stage of the highly anticipated race program will take place in Muğla, a paragon of tourism, commencing with the adrenaline-charged “Halikarnas 100th Anniversary Cup” at Bodrum Yalıkavak.
Participants will navigate an arduous 400-kilometer course along the Bodrum-Marmaris-Bodrum route, culminating in a grand finish in Bodrum Yalıkavak on Saturday.
The atmosphere of anticipation will reach a fever pitch on Sunday, as the grand award ceremony unfolds at Bodrum Castle. Here, the triumphant competitors of the Halicarnassus 100th Anniversary Cup will raise their well-deserved trophies in celebration of their victory.
Reflecting on the evolution and growth of this prestigious event, Istanbul Open Sea Yacht Racing Club President Ekrem Yemlihaoğlu said, “The participation in our traditional organization grows each year, a testament to the soaring popularity of sailing in our beloved country. This year, the Halicarnassus Cup will host nearly 50 teams and over 400 athletes from 12 to 14 countries. Their challenges and obstacles make for an exhilarating and unforgettable journey.”
However, the maritime excitement does not end in Muğla. Three more races are set to take place in Istanbul, the mesmerizing city that bridges continents.
From October 27th to 29th, the Bosporus will be the grand stage for the enthralling 100th Anniversary Cup of the Republic of Türkiye, echoing with the spirit of freedom and independence, and honoring the centennial celebrations of the republic.
It’s not just a competition, it’s a voyage of national pride, a chance to showcase the grandeur of Türkiye on an international scale.
Last year’s edition witnessed the participation of 135 teams and over 1,000 sailing athletes, further cementing the race’s reputation as one of the most esteemed marine sports events.
This year, the stakes are raised, with over 60 teams and more than 500 athletes ready to take part in the Muğla stage alone.
The Presidential International Yacht Race has evolved into an enchanting extravaganza that captures the hearts of those with an unyielding love for the sea and a passion for the adrenaline-charged thrill of sailing.
