Full Description & Details
Uvala Luka is a long, sheltered inlet immediately south of Korcula Town on the island of Korcula, in Zadar County, Croatia. It is a natural anchorage and a popular, cheaper alternative to the nearby ACI Marina Korcula, especially when the marina is full.
The anchorage is close enough to walk into the old town, which is the birthplace of Marco Polo and features attractions such as the Marco Polo House and the Veliki Revelin tower. The setting is practical and busy, with a long quay on the west side that is usually packed with tripper boats, so anchoring is the primary option for visiting yachts.
How to get there
Approach Uvala Luka from the east, noting the shoal patch about 400 metres northeast of the headland on the east side of the inlet. Pass west of the small islet in the middle of the inlet, where depths are around 5 metres, and avoid the east side, which is only 1 metre deep. Be careful of the pipeline that runs along the west side of the inlet.
There is no VHF channel listed for the anchorage; the harbourmaster collects a fee, which in 2009 was 150 kuna per night. The anchorage is about 400 metres from Korcula town, and a dinghy can be landed ashore for a short walk to the town's shops, restaurants, and cafebars.
