Full Description & Details

Selce harbour (Luka Selce) is a public marina on the Kvarner coast of Croatia, about 2 NM south of Crikvenica. It is a working harbour with a mix of communal, operational, and nautical berths. The marina is open for public traffic of local significance and is operated by the Crikvenica harbour authority. The harbour area covers about 49,821 square metres, of which 46,411 square metres is sea. The main quay offers berths for visiting yachts, while the inner basins (Bazeni Selce and Amabilis) are used mostly by local boats. The town of Selce itself is a traditional seaside resort with cafes, restaurants, and bars along the waterfront.

The nautical section of the harbour is 80 metres long and has 40 berths for visiting vessels. Maximum length is 20 metres and maximum draft is 5 metres, though depths along the quay range from 2 to 5 metres. The inner basins are shallower, with depths from 1.3 to 7.4 metres across the harbour. The operational quay is 50 metres long with depths of 2 to 5 metres, used for passenger and cargo embarkation. The communal section, including the Bazeni Selce basin, has 354 berths, and the Amabilis basin adds 10 more. Holding is generally good on the main quay, which is protected from winds from north to south by east.

Facilities include power and water bollards on the main quay, a 5-ton crane, and a slipway (istezaliste) for launching and hauling boats. There is also a mobile ecological container for waste oil collection near the crane. Wi-Fi is available, and there is a restaurant on site. The harbour has port lighting and mooring devices. A taxi service and a catering business operate within the harbour area. The nearest airport is Rijeka Airport (RJK), about 20 km away.

Watch for dangerous summer squalls from the west, and mind the shallows southwest of the harbour and by Selce Point. The harbour is open year-round, but the best season for cruising is from May to September. There are no known restrictions on overnight stays, but it is advisable to check with the harbour master on arrival. The marina is a budget option, with prices in the lower range for the area.

How to get there

Approach Selce harbour from the west or south, as the harbour opens to the west. From the north, beware of a shoal with 4.8 metres of water extending from the coast northwest of Selce. Landmarks include the 'TITO' inscription on the hill above the town, a large hotel on the northwest edge, and a bell tower with a spire.

The main quay is on the southern and southeastern shore, with a perpendicular pier used by tripper boats. There is no VHF channel listed; contact the harbour master by phone or in person. Selce is on the mainland, so road access is straightforward.

The harbour is at Trg Palih Boraca 25, in the centre of Selce. Rijeka Airport (RJK) is the closest airport, about 20 km away. There is no formal customs or immigration clearance required for EU vessels, but check-in with the harbour master is standard for berthing.
