Full Description & Details
Marina Parentium is located in Molindrio Bay within the Zelena Laguna resort on the western coast of Istria, approximately 6 kilometres south of Porec. The marina is owned and operated by Plava Laguna leisure resort company and forms part of the Hotel Parentium complex. It occupies a position on Cape Sv. Petar in the nearly circular bay, open all year round and offering 184 berths for yachts from 3 to 20 metres in length.
Depths in the marina range from 2.0 to 4.5 metres, with deeper water towards the end of the pontoons. The maximum draught is 5 metres. All berths are equipped with water and electricity (240v). Protection is mostly good from winds of all directions, although east winds can cause waves and swell, and strong northwest winds create a surge. Yachts berth bow or stern-to the pontoons with berthing assistance available. The marina entrance has depths of 10 metres, shallowing quickly inside the bay.
Facilities include a reception, sanitary facilities with hot water showers and toilets, a small grocery store, and a restaurant. A small boatyard with a 10-tonne crane provides basic repair services including mechanical, electrical, plastics and joinery work. There is no fuel dock at the marina; the closest fuel station is 2 nautical miles away at Porec town harbour. A larger supermarket is located approximately 500 metres away in the hotel complex, and the Zelena Laguna beach area offers additional restaurants, cafes and shops.
The marina is situated within a tourist resort that includes hotels, apartments, a sports centre, swimming pool, and medical care facilities. Water sports and recreational activities are available nearby, including water skiing, diving, bicycle hire, and tennis. A tourist beach tram shuttles between Marina Porec and Zelena Laguna.
How to get there
The principal dangers approaching Marina Parentium are numerous rocky islets and shoals lying up to half a mile offshore from both north and south. Zontuja islet has dangerous shoals extending several hundred metres north. The safest approach is from northwest, between Zontuja and Regata islets, leaving Zontuja at least 500 metres to starboard.
With a detailed chart, it is possible to pass inside Zontuja when arriving from the south, though this requires skirting several other islets. Contact the marina on VHF channel 17 prior to entry. When entering the bay, stay in the centre of the channel as there are buoyed-off swimming areas on either side.
The marina is tucked in on the northeast side of the headland at the southern side of the bay. Care should be taken regarding draught when behind the breakwater due to stones. Pula international airport is 56 kilometres away.
Parking is available in front of the main office building.
