Full Description & Details

Luka Sali sits on the eastern side of Dugi Otok, approximately 14 nautical miles southwest of Zadar. The marina serves as the main harbour for Sali, the largest settlement and administrative centre of the island. In 2023, a southeastern breakwater was completed which, together with the western breakwater, provides protection from all winds. The harbour accommodates 80 berths across two pontoons designated as Pontoon N and Pontoon S, with depths ranging from 1.0 to 5.5 metres. Water depth varies within the marina, with shallower areas of 2.5 metres near the piers and deeper sections of 6 to 8 metres further out. Vessels up to 70 metres LOA can be accommodated, though during breakwater construction periods, length restrictions may apply.

Berths are equipped with water and electricity connections. Sanitary facilities including toilets and showers are available on the north dock. Several restaurants, bars, shops, a butcher and an ATM are located in the immediate vicinity. The marina does not have its own fuel station; the nearest fuel is at Zaglav, approximately 1 nautical mile away. Mooring fees are charged per metre of vessel length, with higher rates during July, August and September. Water usage over 50 litres incurs an additional charge. The harbour is extremely popular during summer months, with berths typically fully occupied by 17:00 hours.

Skippers should note that a well-known bar on the eastern side of the harbour plays loud music at night. Vessels seeking a quieter overnight stay should moor on the western side. The marina operates year-round and is managed by Mulic Ltd. VHF channel 17 is used for communication. While the harbour provides good protection, strong easterly sirocco winds can blow directly into the side, creating uncomfortable conditions for moored vessels.

How to get there

The approach to Luka Sali requires careful navigation. Vessels must enter between the red buoy (to port) and the green buoy (to starboard), positioned on the extreme left of the entrance, then proceed between yellow buoys and the breakwater, staying close to the breakwater. The old lighthouse that previously stood on Cape Blud has been relocated to the head of the eastern breakwater and displays different characteristics.

Mariners should leave green buoys on the starboard side when approaching; the last green buoy may appear close to the outer breakwater but provides adequate clearance. During port modernization work, the entrance may appear winding but is well signposted. Strict adherence to the marked navigation channel is enforced with high penalties for violations.

Sali is accessible by ferry from the mainland, serving as Dugi Otok's main ferry port. The nearest fuel station is located at Zaglav, 1 nautical mile from the harbour. For information on available berths, contact the harbour on VHF channel 17 or telephone +385 91 783 1421.

During peak summer season, arrival before 17:00 hours is recommended to secure a berth.
