Port Louis Marina, recently crowned as the ‘Yachting Destination of the Year 2023’ by the Caribbean Journal, is not just a marina; it’s a gateway to the pristine beauty of Grenada and the Grenadines. This award-winning superyacht marina, set in the beautiful Lagoon just outside the capital city of St. George’s, provides a seamless blend of luxury and natural allure.
Location
Nestled in the heart of Grenada, Port Louis Marina graces the coastline just outside St. George’s. This strategic location, south of the main hurricane belt, offers a tranquil and safe environment for yachts and superyachts, especially during the Caribbean summer months.
Approach to the Marina
The marina is accessible in all weather conditions, featuring a well-lit, buoyed marina fairway. Boaters are advised to follow the American system (‘Red Right Returning’) with red buoys marking the starboard side of the channel upon arrival. On approach, contacting the Capitainerie on Channel 14 is recommended for marina slip instructions.
Pay special attention to commercial traffic as you enter or leave the Port Louis marina, especially along the Carenage waterfront in St. George’s itself.
Yachts arriving from outside Grenada or Carriacou must clear customs and immigration at the port of entry – Tyrell Bay and Port Louis Marina are the two most preferred options.
Customs inspection must be completed by the captain before any crew member disembarks. Four copies of the crew list/admission form are required and can be filled out in advance. Grenada has a SailClear web-based pre-arrival notification service that allows them to be submitted online prior to arrival.
Permits for departure from Grenada must also be obtained for entry into the next country. Yachts must depart within 24 hours of clearing customs.
