Pethi Harbor is located on the island of Simi near the town of Pedi on the Aegean Sea, at coordinates 36°36.877’N, 027°51.457’E. Harbor is nestled in a deep inlet south of Ayia Marina and Yialos on the island of Sými. This strategic location provides good shelter from the meltemi winds, although it can be gusty, making it a safe haven for boats and yachts.
Approach to Pethi Harbor
Sailors can either dock on either side of the pier or anchor off in depths of 6-10 meters. The harbor offers good holding grounds with a bottom of sand and weed, ensuring a secure anchor once through the weed. It’s important to note that cargo ships berth regularly on the starboard side of the pier when looking toward the land.
Description of Pethi Harbor
Pédi Harbor features a new (as of 2015) cement pier on the north side with about 4 meters depth, although it is not fully completed with some pillars missing. The marina is free to use, including the spaces along the northern sea wall. While the exact number of berths and their types are subject to change as infrastructure develops, the harbor currently accommodates a variety of boats with different lengths and drafts. Amenities on the berths include water, electricity, and wi-fi, making it convenient for sailors. Fuel is also available via fuel tankers that can deliver directly to the boats.
