Marmaris Yacht Marina is located on the opposite shore of the bay from Marmaris near the village of Adakey, on the isthmus of Yalanji Boaz, which means “False Passage”in Turkish. Now this isthmus is reinforced by a breakwater and marked with lights, but in ancient times many ships were wrecked here, mistaking the isthmus, which is poorly discernible in bad weather and at night, for the entrance to the Gulf of Marmaris.
At the entrance to the marina you will see a stone fence and an inconspicuous tombstone – this is the grave and monument to Ermish Dede, the caretaker, who built a homemade lighthouse here at the end of the 14th century and devoted every night to saving navigators, making it his life’s work.
Affordable prices and convenient location lead to a constant increase in the popularity of the Marmaris Yacht Marina, in response to which it is constantly expanding by adding new parking spaces. Now more than 700 yachts can be accommodated at the marina’s berths, and in addition, there is a huge territory for winter parking and maintenance work on land. All places are equipped with water and electricity.
On the territory you will find several comfortable showers and toilets, parking, a restaurant, a swimming pool, grocery stores and spare parts, a library where you can exchange a book or just relax in silence and coolness surrounded by wooden shelves, using wireless Internet. The marina even has its own radio station broadcasting in three languages.
Among the disadvantages – the lack of a gas station (the nearest one is located 2 miles away in Marmaris Netsel Marina) and its slightly “industrial” appearance.
The center of Marmaris is less than 9 km away, you can get there by calling a taxi, or by an inexpensive “minibus” that departs regularly according to the schedule.
