Full Description & Details
Tovarnele is a small fishing port on the west side of the Lun peninsula, the northern tip of the island of Pag. It offers a handful of guest berths: about six to seven stern-to moorings on the outside of the local basin, plus a few places at the jetties of two restaurants. The port is sheltered from most directions, but it remains open to northwest and west winds, which can make it uncomfortable.
The holding ground in the bay is sand and weed, though anchoring in seagrass is less reliable. The surrounding Lun peninsula is a barren, scenic landscape of fig and olive trees, with about 80,000 olive trees and a local goat cheese industry.
How to get there
Approach Tovarnele from the sea, keeping a lookout for extensive shoals off the headland of Rt Lun at the northwest tip of the island. A lighthouse on the south point and another on Dolfin Island guide the way. The port lies on the west side of the peninsula; enter the small basin protected by a breakwater.
If no berth is available, anchor in the bay in about 4.5 meters depth, but check the bottom because the anchor holds less well in seagrass. There is no VHF channel specified for this port.
