Full Description & Details
Rovenska is a small marina on the southern shore of Losinj, facing the Losinjski Kanal in the Kvarner region of Croatia. It is a working harbour with a 220 m breakwater and a 105 m operational quay, built of stone and concrete. The marina offers about 10 berths, with space for vessels up to 18 m. The quay was rebuilt in spring 2016 and fitted with a mooring system, and the outer part is used for commercial and seasonal berthing. The setting is protected from winds from the NW, N, and NE, but caution is advised when the bora blows, as several restaurants line the quay and the wind can make berthing tricky.
The water depth ranges from 2 to 8 m, with the operational quay having depths of 2.5 to 3.5 m. Mooring is on the north side of the pier, and anchoring is possible in about 12 m on a sandy bottom. The breakwater has been extended, doubling its length, and good ground lines are laid for secure mooring. There is no dedicated mooring staff, but a harbour master visits a few times daily to collect fees. Payment by card is accepted, and the rate is about 4 EUR per metre per night, with optional electricity at 20 EUR and water at 7 EUR per night.
Facilities at the marina include water, electricity (16A and 32A plugs), Wi-Fi, and a fuel station. The Mol restaurant on the pier offers water for boats dining there and has four berths for small yachts. There are no toilet or shower facilities on site. The nearest fuel station is at Mali Losinj (Privlaka), about 3 nautical miles away. The marina is open year-round, from 1 January to 31 December.
Sailors should be aware that the breakwater is partially damaged on the inside, though it still provides protection. The marina is close to Veli Losinj, about 0.27 nautical miles away, and the Rovenska lighthouse is 0.21 nautical miles off. The best season is summer, when the weather is settled, but always check the forecast for bora conditions. There are no formal restrictions beyond normal harbour rules, and the marina is managed by the Zupanijska lucka uprava Mali Losinj.
How to get there
Approach to Rovenska is straightforward, but pay attention to wind and sea from the NW, N, and NE, which can affect entry. The marina is on the north side of the pier, and you can anchor in about 12 m on a sandy bottom or secure a line to the breakwater. The quay extension has improved access, and ground lines are in good condition.
There is no VHF channel listed; contact the harbour master by phone at +385 98 415 400 or +385 51 232 020. By land, the marina is connected to the road network, with water, electricity, and telephone available. The nearest airport is on Losinj, with domestic flights and connections to larger European cities; from there, a short drive or taxi brings you to the marina.
Ferries from the mainland connect to Losinj, and the marina is close to the town of Veli Losinj.
