Full Description & Details
Podvorska harbour, also known as Luka Podvorska or Crno Molo, is a public marina in the northern part of Crikvenica on Croatia's Kvarner coast. It is a local harbour open to public traffic, managed by the Crikvenica Port Authority under the supervision of the Rijeka Harbour Master's Office, Crikvenica branch. The harbour covers about 23,573 square metres, of which 20,896 square metres is sea area. It is primarily a community harbour, with the majority of berths occupied by local boats, leaving limited space for visiting small yachts. The nearby beach, called Black Jetty, is only about 57 metres away.
The marina offers 312 berths, with depths ranging from 1 to 2.5 metres. This shallow draft limits access to smaller vessels; larger yachts will find the harbour unsuitable. Protection is good from southerly, south-easterly, and north-easterly winds. For docking, the recommended method is to anchor from the bow and use stern lines, with the bow facing forward. The harbour is equipped with mooring devices, a harbour light, and berths with access to fresh water and shore power.
On land, a 16-tonne boat hoist and a slipway area for launching and hauling boats are located in the immediate vicinity. An ecological storage unit near the southern breakwater holds a container for collecting waste oil. A catering establishment operates within the concession area. The harbour is entirely communal in character, and the port area includes a coastal land strip, a berthing pier, and the associated waters.
No overnight stay policy is specified in available sources. The harbour is usually full, so visiting yachts should expect limited availability. The best season is summer, when Crikvenica is a busy seaside resort with beaches, restaurants, cafes, and shops. There are no fuel facilities at Podvorska; the nearest fuel berth is in Crikvenica's main harbour, west of the river mouth, with depths of about 3 metres.
How to get there
Podvorska harbour lies on the north side of Crikvenica, within the Vinodolski Kanal. The approach is from the Kvarner Gulf, with the harbour entrance marked by a light on the breakwater head, listed as E2907.8 Lucica Podvorska Breakwater Head. The harbour is well protected from winds from the south, south-east, and north-east.
Depths inside range from 1 to 2.5 metres, so approach with caution and check the chart for local shallows. For VHF contact, no specific channel is published; use the Crikvenica port authority frequency or call the Harbour Master's office in Crikvenica. The harbour is within walking distance of Crikvenica town centre, which offers beaches, restaurants, cafes, and shops.
The nearest airport is Rijeka Airport on Krk island, about 20 kilometres away. By road, Crikvenica is on the Adriatic coastal highway, roughly 35 kilometres south of Rijeka. Formal procedures are handled by the Lucka kapetanija Rijeka – ispostava Crikvenica, the local harbour master's office.
