Marina Veli Iz is situated in the harbour of Veli Iz, halfway down the northeastern side of Iz Island in Croatia's Zadar Archipelago. The marina operates year-round and occupies the southern side of the harbour, protected by a 20-metre breakwater. The small islet of Rutnjak lies half a mile east of the harbour. The marina's central position in the archipelago and proximity to the Kornati Islands makes it a strategic starting point for Adriatic sailing routes.
The marina provides 50 wet berths for yachts up to 20 metres in length, with depths ranging from 1.0 to 3.5 metres. All berths are equipped with water and electricity connections. The marina offers excellent shelter in all wind conditions, though strong northeast winds can send in an uncomfortable swell. The holding is good in sand and mud. The facility includes a 24-tonne travel lift and slipway for maintenance work.
Facilities include toilets, showers, a launderette, WiFi (though sources note it can be almost unusable at times), and a reception desk operating from 08:00-13:00 and 17:00-20:00. How to get there
Call Marina Veli Iz on VHF channel 17 for berth assignment or telephone in advance for reservations. There are no dangers in the immediate approach to Veli Iz, and the islet of Rutnjak can be left on either side. When approaching from the north, exercise caution due to shallow water near the hotel and sail into the harbour in a wide arc.
Depths in the harbour entrance are 6.0-7.0 metres. When approaching from the south, be aware of a shoal patch marked with a beacon approximately 500 metres northwest of the islet of Knezak. The marina is located 30 kilometres from Zadar and 35 kilometres from Zadar Airport.
Split Airport is 150 kilometres away. Zadar is the nearest year-round port of entry; during summer, Sali on Dugi Otok and Primosten on the mainland also serve as ports of entry. The marina has a car park for crew arriving by road.
