Full Description & Details
ACI marina Palmizana lies in a sheltered bay on the northeastern shore of Sv. Klement, the largest of the Pakleni Islands, just 2.4 nautical miles from Hvar Town. Open from April to October, the marina is surrounded by pine forest and a short walk from the century-old Meneghello botanical garden. It is a favourite stop for sailors exploring the central Dalmatian coast, prized for its clear water, walking trails, and relaxed atmosphere.
The marina provides 180 berths on fixed pontoons with stern-to mooring and lazy lines. Maximum LOA is 40 m, and the deepest berths at the outer pier hold around 4 m. The outer bay offers good sand/mud holding for anchoring. The cove is well protected from jugo (S) and northwest winds, though strong southwesterly to westerly winds can occasionally send a tidal wave into the inlet.
Facilities include shore power (16 A and some 32 A), drinking water, clean toilets and showers, free Wi‑Fi, a laundry, a small grocery store, an ATM, a restaurant, and a children’s playground. A device for discharging holding tanks is available. There is no fuel dock; the nearest fuel station is 2.5 nm away. No repair yard, travel lift, or chandlery exists on the island.
Baba Rock, marked by a lighthouse (Fl(2) W 10s 7m 4M), guards the entrance and must be given a wide berth, especially on its northern side. The marina is operating with reduced capacity because of pontoon reconstruction, and larger vessels can be accommodated sideways with advance notice. In high season the marina fills by early afternoon; arriving before 14:00 is recommended. A water taxi connects to Hvar Town in about 10 minutes.
How to get there
From the north, pass between the islets of Vlaka and Borovac into the broad bay of Vinogradisce, then turn east into the narrower inlet where the ACI pontoons are visible. Baba Rock (43°10.1' N 16°23.8' E) lies north of the entrance and is marked by a lighthouse (Fl(2) W 10s 7m 4M); keep well clear, particularly on its northern side. The marina entrance is signed “ACI”.
Contact the marina on VHF channel 17 for berthing instructions. The southern approach between Borovac and Sv. Klement is shallow (less than 5 m) and unlit – not recommended.
There is no road access to the island. The nearest airports are Brac and Split. By car, follow the A1, E65, or E71 to Hvar Town, then take a water taxi (about 10 minutes) to the marina.
Check-in is at the marina reception; advance reservation is advised in summer.
