Full Description & Details
Viska Luka Marina, commonly called Port Vis, sits in the main town and ferry port on the island of Vis in Croatia. The bay curves behind Vis town and is open to the northeast, yet it provides shelter from all directions. The seabed is sand, and a line of mooring buoys sits over it.
Anchoring is not permitted here, so you must pick up a buoy. The marina has 70 berths and a maximum length of 20 meters. Depths range from about 3 meters near the fortress tower to only 2 meters further east.
There is noticeable swell caused by ferry traffic, and during Bora and Jugo winds you are rather unprotected. Kut, in the eastern part of the harbor, is the quieter option if you want less movement.
How to get there
The entrance to the bay is straightforward and well-marked, with ruined forts on the hills on either side. When approaching from the west or north, pass Hrid Volicer, marked by a white concrete tower. Rocks extend to the west and southwest of this tower toward Nova Posta Rt O. Vis.
The main channel for entry passes west of Hrid Kravis. To reach the harbor, navigate between O. Host to starboard and Krav Hrid to port, then sail southwest toward the port. The marina monitors VHF channel 17.
The town of Vis is the main ferry port, so expect ferry and catamaran traffic in the approach. Supermarkets are very near the quay, and there is a large selection of restaurants.
