Full Description & Details

Denizkoy, also known as Maltepe Koyu, is a bay on the northwest side of the Gulf of Candarlı, immediately east of Maltepe Point, indenting to the north. The bay is sheltered from northerly winds, with the northwest corner offering the best protection. However, this corner contains laid moorings belonging to local small boats, so anchoring space there is limited.

Elsewhere, you can anchor in 2 to 7 meters of water. The bottom is a mix of weed and sand; the sandy patches hold well. Westerly winds can push swell into the bay, and northerlies blow harder as they funnel off the mountains.

The shore has a sandy beach beside summer residential areas, with markets, restaurants, and tea gardens lining the waterfront. The village is connected by road to Dikili and Candarlı, about 20 km away. Note that a long-unfinished hotel construction is the one drawback mentioned by visitors.

How to get there

Denizkoy lies on the northwest side of the Gulf of Candarlı, east of Maltepe Point. From the gulf, head toward the point and then east into the bay, which opens to the south. The northwest corner of the bay gives the best shelter from northerly winds, but local moorings occupy that area.

Anchor in 2 to 7 meters over weed and sand, choosing sandy patches for better holding. Beware of westerly winds causing swell and northerlies strengthening off the mountains. No specific VHF channel is reported.

By land, the village connects by road to Dikili and Candarlı, roughly 20 km away. The nearest airport is Izmir Adnan Menderes International, with bus and minibus services from Candarlı and Dikili.
