Luka Telascica is a large, deeply indented bay on the southeastern coast of Dugi Otok island in Zadar County, Croatia. It is one of the largest bays in the Adriatic, with a highly indented coastline of about 70 km and 25 individual inlets.
The bay is bounded by two peninsulas of different character: the east coast is relatively flat with beaches, while the seaward coast of the west peninsula features a wall of cliffs that reach 160 meters above sea level. The area has been protected as Telascica Nature Park since 1988.
How to get there
Luka Telascica opens to the southeast at the southern tip of Dugi Otok, roughly 20 nautical miles southwest of Zadar and about 8 NM from the northern entrance of the Kornati archipelago. The bay entrance is wide and deep, with no off-lying hazards, and the 8-kilometre-long inlet gradually narrows as you penetrate deeper into the park. Yachts sailing from Zadar typically pass through the Srednji Kanal between Ugljan and Pasman before heading southeast along Dugi Otok's inner coast, a half-day sail of approximately 4 to 5 hours in moderate conditions.
From Sibenik, the distance is around 30 NM heading north through the Kornati islands. VHF Channel 16 is monitored for emergencies.
