Full Description & Details
The Port of Fethiye is a sheltered harbour in Karagozler, Fethiye, Turkey, set behind Fethiye (Knights) Island in the southeast of Fethiye Gulf. It is a port of entry and exit with customs available, and the long quay next to the port is the municipality marina, operated by Fethiye Belediyesi. The town behind the quay is a large centre with a waterfront promenade, parks, shopping and cultural facilities, plus the Fethiye Archaeology Museum and the ancient Amphitheater right behind the quay. Rock tombs and a castle built by the Knights of Rhodes are visible on the hills behind.
The municipality marina quay is deep enough for berthing, with a maximum draft of 10 metres. Berths are taken by anchoring, and electricity, water and a fuel station are connected at the quay. A black water discharge unit is available. During the summer season there is hardly any space available, as the quay is practically a location where tour, diving and shuttle boats operating for commercial purposes berth. For anchoring instead, Aksaz Cove at the end of the port has a mud bottom that holds anchor very well and is sheltered from all weather conditions; many yachtsmen stay there during the winter months.
Facilities behind the quay include a Friday market, shopping centres, vegetable, fruit and fish halls, banks, ATMs, hospitals and pharmacies. The waterfront promenade has restaurants behind the quay. There are equipment stores, maintenance and repair workshops, yacht sales and charter companies, car rental, taxi stands and minibuses to neighbouring towns. The intercity bus terminal connects to all parts of Turkey, and Dalaman International Airport is 55 kilometres from Fethiye. Ferry services operate to the Aegean islands.
Approach is made between Battikkaya on starboard, Topyalak Point, Fethiye (Knights) Island on port side, Pacariz Point on starboard, and a semi-sunken shipwreck. A large area on the eastern side of the port at 10-13 metres depth is quite shallow and marked with 2 shoal beacons. The port is a port of entry and exit with customs available. The marina management is right behind the quay at 0252-614 35 39, and the operator phone is +90 252 614 1187. The Mediterranean climate brings hot, dry summers and mild, rainy winters, with sea water temperature never falling below 16 degrees in any season.
