Full Description & Details

San Pelagio is a municipal marina on the north side of Rovinj, Croatia, opened in September 2021. It was built to relieve the central town harbour of Andana and serves primarily as a community port for local residents. The marina is operated by the Rovinj Port Authority (Lucka uprava Rovinj-Rovigno) and is open all year, from 1 January to 31 December. Its position and breakwater design were shaped by conservation requirements and wave-modelling studies, and the outer face of the breakwater includes a public sunbathing area with steps into the sea.

The marina has 150 berths on pontoons, each equipped with electrical, water, and fire-hydrant connections. Water depths range from 1.5 metres at the north end to 5 metres at the south. The harbour is protected against all winds except from the south, so a southerly blow can send swell in. Berths are reserved for local residents' boats, and only vessels up to 8 metres in length are permitted. Overnight stays are restricted, though short-term docking is possible on the head of the breakwater.

Facilities are modest. There is no fuel station in the marina itself; the nearest fuel station is about 1 nautical mile away in Rovinj. A service yard (Nauticar Servis) lies about 0.3 nautical miles away, and the main town harbour of Rovinj is roughly 0.8 nautical miles to the south. The marina is under video surveillance, and the surrounding area has public lighting and greenery.

Skippers should note the southern exposure and the 8-metre length limit before planning a stop. The marina is intended for local boats, so visiting yachts should expect limited availability and should contact the port authority in advance. The best season for a visit is the summer, when the sunbathing area and views of the old town are at their best, but the marina operates throughout the year.

How to get there

San Pelagio lies on the north side of Rovinj, about 0.02 nautical miles from the San Pelagio lighthouse. Approach from the sea, keeping clear of the breakwater, and head for the harbour entrance on the south side. The marina is protected from most winds, but the south side is open, so approach with caution in southerly conditions.

Contact the port authority on VHF or by email at [email protected] for berth availability and instructions. Land access is from the town of Rovinj, which is about 0.8 nautical miles south of the marina. The nearest airport is Pula Airport, roughly 40 kilometres away.

The marina is within walking distance of Rovinj's old town, and the main road connects to the Istrian highway. Formalities are handled by the port authority, and the marina is open all year.
