Full Description & Details

Port of Kuciste is located on the Peljesac Channel at the foot of a hill that provides natural protection from the bora wind. The settlement lies five kilometres west of Orebic, facing the island of Korcula across the channel. The harbour features several small piers in front of houses, with the main pier positioned centrally.

The port provides four berths with electricity and water available. Depth at the main pier is 3 metres. The harbour is exposed to southerly winds, and a strong northwest wind can create significant operational difficulties. The location benefits from strong but pleasant west winds during summer, including the maestral and tramuntana, making the area popular with windsurfers and sailors.

A tavern operates in the settlement during the summer months, providing dining options for visiting sailors. The anchorage is managed by the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Port Authority. The village itself dates back to the 16th century and features captains' houses and stone piers characteristic of the region's maritime heritage.

The port is open year-round. The surrounding area offers sandy and pebble beaches, and the nearby town of Orebic provides additional services and supplies. Ferry connections from Orebic link to the island of Korcula and the mainland port of Ploce.

How to get there

Port of Kuciste is located on the southern coast of the Peljesac Peninsula on the Peljesac Channel, approximately five kilometres west of Orebic. The harbour sits at the foot of a hill in the village of Kuciste. Mariners should be aware that the harbour is exposed to southerly winds and that strong northwest winds can create major problems.

The main pier with 3-metre depth is located in the middle of several small piers. The port can be reached by road along the regional road that runs along the peninsula. Orebic, the nearest significant town with ferry connections to Korcula island and additional services, lies five kilometres to the east.

Contact the Dubrovnik-Neretva County Port Authority for berth availability and harbour information.
