Full Description & Details

Luka Vinisce is a long, narrow bay on the Dalmatian coast of Croatia, in the Split-Dalmatia County, at the town of Vinisce. The bay is well protected against all winds except from the south-east side. Strong bura (NE) and jugo (SE) winds cause waves in the bay, and bura can shift to an easterly wind in the Brac channel.

The seabed is sandy, and the anchor holds well. Water depths range from 2 to 15 meters, with multiple piers available. Docking is possible on the north-west pier, but the water depth there is only 1 meter, so it is suitable only for boats with a draft under 1 meter.

Larger boats and yachts typically anchor in the bay's protected waters. The bay is open all year round, from January 1 to December 31, and overnight anchoring is allowed. Nearby attractions include Voluja cove, Ljubljeva cove, the ruins on Arandel Island, and the Murvica Lighthouse, built in 1895.

A grocery store and ATM are nearby, as are a restaurant and snack bar. The town of Vinisce, at the end of the bay, has a small marina that primarily serves local private boats and is not suitable for larger yachts. The bay itself offers a peaceful and scenic stopover for sailors.

How to get there

When approaching Luka Vinisce from the south-east, take caution near the small island of Vinisce. Sailing around the island is safe in all directions, and the water depth between the island and the mainland is 30 meters. On Cape Artatore, on the south side of the bay entrance, there is a lantern with characteristic R Fl 3s 8m 4M.

The bay is well protected, but be aware that strong bura and jugo winds can cause waves. The nearest airport is Split Airport, and the bay is accessible by car via the A1, D58, and D126 roads. VHF channel 17 is used for the marina.
