Full Description & Details
Porto Deportivo de Cangas is a marina on the north coast of the Vigo estuary, between Cape Balea and Punta Rodeira, in the town of Cangas de Morrazo, Galicia. The marina is sheltered by breakwaters, with an exterior sheltering breakwater and an interior breakwater that separates the marina from the fishing quay. The harbour mouth is 125 metres wide with a depth of 5 metres, and the inner harbour depth is 3 metres.
The marina offers 269 permanent berths and 24 temporary moorings, with a maximum recommended boat length of 20 metres and a maximum draft of 4 metres. Minimum draft is 2 metres. Holding is on pontoons, and the marina is protected from the open sea, though the entrance requires attention to local shoals.
How to get there
Approach from the south through the main channel of the Vigo estuary, following the leading line on Cabo Stay at 069 degrees. After passing the Punta Lameda and Cabo Vicos opposition line, set a course of 041 degrees, guided by the leading line between the Borneira tower and the tower on Rodeira beach. Leave the red marker buoy on Borneira rock to port, then round the exterior sheltering breakwater; the fishing quay lies to port and the marina is to the north of the interior breakwater.
The only significant obstacle is the shallow Borneira, marked by a red and white tower; another danger is the lower Rodeira, also buoyed. Contact the marina on VHF channel 16.
