Full Description & Details

Marina Coruna is a modern marina at the root of the breakwater at the entrance to A Coruna harbour, on the north-west coast of Spain. It sits between the breakwater to the north and the Castle of San Anton to the south, about 500 metres from the old town. The marina is a good staging post for a passage across the Bay of Biscay, and the city's population more than doubles during the peak season of July and August.

The marina offers 480 berths on finger pontoons, with a maximum length of 70 metres and a maximum draft of 15 metres. It is protected by a breakwater and wavebreak pontoons, and yachts berth where directed. Holding is good if you anchor inside the breakwater clear of the mooring buoys. The marina has a 24-hour fuel station, water, electricity, wifi, showers, laundry, and a repair yard with a travel lift and crane.

On site there is a bar/restaurant, a supermarket, and a chandlery. The marina office is open from 9:00 to 14:00 and 15:00 to 18:00, with 24-hour assistance. The boatyard offers winter storage, refit, painting, and rigging services, and is an official Volvo Penta and Yanmar service. A sailing school operates from the marina.

Safety is supported by video surveillance and a night watchman. The marina is wheelchair accessible with limitations. The best season is summer, but the marina is open year-round. The old town, with its glassed-in balconies, and the Torre de Hercules Roman lighthouse are nearby attractions.

How to get there

Approach A Coruna harbour from the north-west, passing the end of the breakwater. Marina Coruna is to starboard after passing the breakwater end, at the root of the breakwater. The marina monitors VHF channel 9. Yachts berth where directed on finger pontoons.

Land access is via the Paseo Maritimo Francisco Vazquez, with the marina about 500 metres from the old town. The nearest airport is A Coruna Airport, about 8 km from the marina. The marina is a port of entry, so formalities can be completed on arrival.
