Full Description & Details
Porto Montenegro lies within the UNESCO-listed Bay of Kotor, a deep, sheltered fjord surrounded by dramatic mountains. The former naval facility was transformed into a world-class marina, now a flagship superyacht destination in the Adriatic. The setting blends a historic waterfront village with modern luxury, offering a unique, protected environment that feels more like a secluded natural harbour than a typical marina.
The marina provides excellent all-round protection, with calm waters and negligible swell. Water depths range from 5m to 15m, and the 580 secure berths can accommodate yachts up to 250m LOA with a maximum draft of 12m. Mediterranean stern-to mooring is standard, with ground bow lines handled by the dock crew. Pontoons are high-standard floating docks, and the holding is described as secure and sheltered year-round.
Facilities are comprehensive: fuel, water, power (16A–600A), high-speed wifi, showers, laundry, provisions, and a chandlery. Onsite technical services cover repairs, with a crane and a ship-lift (820 tonnes) available. The marina village offers restaurants, crew facilities, a yacht club, and a beach club. Porto Montenegro has been an official port of entry since 2010, with customs and immigration services onsite.
Safety features include 24-hour security, CCTV, and controlled gated entries. A speed limit of dead slow/no wake applies in the bay, with 10 knots in the bay and 6 knots in the zone between Kumbor Strait and Verige Passage. Pilotage is compulsory for vessels over 1000 GRT. The marina operates all year, with summer and winter berthing packages; winter months are marketed as a safe homeport season.
How to get there
Approach from the Bay of Kotor, with the marina entrance at approximately 42° 25' N, 18° 42' E. Contact Porto Montenegro on VHF channel 71 before arrival to coordinate berthing. At night, follow the marina's bright navigational lights, which guide vessels clear of Jetty 4's shallow waters and buoys. Vessels exceeding 1000 GRT require mandatory pilotage, arranged through the marina's Yacht Assist team.
Land access is straightforward: Tivat Airport is approximately 4 km away, with additional international connections via Dubrovnik (47 km) and Podgorica (90 km). The marina is an official port of entry, with customs and immigration clearing on site, making clearance procedures seamless for international arrivals.
