Full Description & Details
Buljarica is a half-mile bay on the Montenegrin coast, less than a mile southeast of the town of Petrovac. The anchorage sits off a long sandy beach that runs about two kilometres, with a lively organized section near a bar and sunbeds, plus a wilder rocky stretch. The water is clear and clean across the bay, and the bottom shelves very gently, making it a practical stop for a family crew.
Holding here is on a sandy seabed, and the anchor holds well. Depth ranges from 1 to 5 metres, and it decreases toward the southeast, so take care when setting. The bay is protected from easterly winds, and the far northern part also shields against the bora; other winds raise waves inside the bay. The seabed is mixed sand, rock, algae and mud, so check your ground tackle before settling.
There is a pizzeria in the bay, and a restaurant is listed in the surroundings. A sandy beach makes tender landing easy. The nearest fuel station is at Bar, about 8 nautical miles away, so plan fuel before arriving. Overnight anchoring is allowed, and the anchorage is open all year.
Watch the rocks off Dubovica on the southern approach and the islet Vatulja on the northwest, near the headland where there are several reefs. Depth drops as you move southeast, so keep an eye on the sounder. The bay is open year-round, but summer brings the settled weather and the beach crowds.
How to get there
Approach Buljarica from the north, keeping clear of the islands Sv. Nedjelja and Katic, and also the islet Vatulja on the northwest of the bay, right off the headland where several reefs lie. Coming from the south, watch the rocks just off the headland at Dubovica. Depth in the bay is 1 to 5 metres and decreases toward the southeast, so stay alert when anchoring.
The anchorage lies off the sandy beach at Buljarica, within Budva Municipality, near the settlement of Durovici. The beach is adjacent to a road, so shore access is straightforward. The nearest fuel station is at Bar, about 8 nautical miles away. There is no dedicated marina office; anchoring is allowed and you can land the tender on the beach.
