Full Description & Details
Kargılık Koyu is a bay on the west side of Gocek Adası, running in a southwest direction. The bay is lined with pine-covered hills and is known for its calm water. The name comes from the reeds, called kargı, that grow in the area. The bay is part of the Gocek region near Fethiye, Turkey.
The bay has two distinct anchoring spots. The southern part, known as Atbuku, is sheltered from the meltem wind, but the end of the bay is shallow. Depths in the middle of the bay are generally 20 to 25 meters, with a sandy seabed. The northern section, Gunluklu Koyu, is a small bay that opens to the west. A fresh water spring flows into the sea at the end of the bay, which is lined with sweetgum trees.
Anchoring is prohibited in Kargılık Koyu, but mooring buoys are available. Overnight stays are restricted, so check the current regulations. Fresh water is available for boats at a platform in the bay, which is also used to supply water to the nearby Zeytinli Ada. A dock is reachable by dinghy, and a snack bar and beach are located there. The bay is a popular spot for its calm waters, especially for families with children.
How to get there
Approach Kargılık Koyu on the western side of Gocek Adası. The bay is entered from the sea, with the southern section, Atbuku, lying to the south. The end of the bay is shallow, so proceed with caution. The bay is under an anchoring prohibition, so plan to pick up a mooring buoy upon arrival.
Land access is by dinghy to the dock. The area is part of the Gocek region, with the town of Gocek nearby. For overnight stays and reservations, consult the DERIA (deria.gov.tr) system, as the bay is subject to specific regulations.
