Full Description & Details
Fırıncık Koyu is a small anchorage on the southern shore of the Sea of Marmara, in the Biga district of Canakkale province, near Degirmencik village. The bay has a low shore with gentle hills behind, and it is one of the few sheltered swimming spots around Biga.
The seabed is sand, which generally gives secure holding for a yacht at anchor. The bay is open to the south and sheltered from north winds, so the sea is usually calm in northerly conditions, making it a suitable stop for a swim and a short walk ashore.
How to get there
Approach Fırıncık Koyu from the Sea of Marmara, heading toward the southern coast near the Kapıdag and Bandırma area. The shore is low, so use the bay's position relative to the nearby headlands for a visual fix; there are no published channel or buoy details for the anchorage.
Anchor over sand in the bay, mindful that the holding is generally good but the area is exposed to any southerly wind. No VHF channel is published for Fırıncık Koyu, so plan to anchor without a formal call.
