Full Description & Details

Badalan Korfezi is a bay on the northern coast of Marmara Adası, the largest island in the Marmara Adaları group in the Sea of Marmara, part of Balıkesir province, Turkey. The bay sits at the eastern end of a strip of hills that runs along the island's north shore; these hills widen east of the bay and reach 337 meters.

The island itself is roughly elliptical, with a mountainous interior and hilly coasts, and its northern side carries more forest cover than the drier south.

How to get there

Approach Badalan Korfezi from the Sea of Marmara, heading toward the northern coast of Marmara Adası. The bay is open to the north, so check the forecast for the prevailing summer winds from the north and northwest, which can bring short, sudden squalls.

There is no published VHF channel or formal harbor control for the anchorage; the nearby Badalan Limanı is a working cargo port, so keep clear of commercial traffic when entering.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the holding like in Badalan Korfezi?

The sources do not describe the holding in Badalan Korfezi. The bay is open to the north, so expect less protection from that direction.

Is there a marina or berth at Badalan Korfezi?

No marina is mentioned at Badalan Korfezi. The nearby Badalan Limanı is a cargo port, not a recreational facility.

What facilities are available at Badalan Korfezi?

The sources list no facilities at the anchorage itself. The nearest services are on Marmara Adası, which has hotels and pensions, but these are not at the bay.

What is the best season to anchor in Badalan Korfezi?

Summer is the main season for the island, with scheduled ferries from Istanbul, but the bay itself can experience short storms in summer due to the northwesterly winds.
