Full Description & Details
Puerto Deportivo Miguel Caballero, also known as Club Nautico Dehesa de Campoamor, sits in a small cove at Dehesa de Campoamor, in the municipality of Orihuela on the Alicante coast. The marina is the main attraction of the Campoamor holiday resort and is flanked by two good beaches, including Playa Barranco Rubio. It is a tranquil and sheltered spot, suited to small vessels with shallow draft, and is best for motor-propelled boats. The nearby Mar Menor offers a different, closed-water sailing experience, while the Reserva Natural de las Islas Hormigas at Cabo Palos is close for divers.
The marina has 351 berths ranging from 6 to 14 meters, with a maximum length overall of 10 meters and a maximum draft of 1.8 meters at the entrance. Water depths inside range from 1 to 1.5 meters. The entrance channel has a draft of 1.8 meters. Holding is good in sand, and an alternative is to anchor 300 meters east of the entrance in 5 meters of water over sand. The marina is protected by two breakwaters and is described as tranquil and silent.
Facilities include fuel, water, and electricity (220/380V) at the pontoons, showers, a 10-ton crane, a 4-meter ramp, a waiting dock, and 24-hour marina staff. There is a repair service and a clubhouse with a restaurant, bar, and showers. The Club Nautico runs sailing courses in windsurf, Optimist, and 470 classes. Contact is by VHF channel 9, phone +34 965 320 386, or email [email protected].
Entry is advised in daylight, lining up the ends of the two breakwaters at 320 degrees. There are shallow areas and a sandbank to avoid at the entrance and exit. Overnight stays are permitted. The marina is close to Cabo Roig (2 nm), La Horadada (3 nm), Torrevieja (6 nm), and San Pedro del Pinatar (8 nm).
How to get there
Approach is recommended in daylight. Line up the ends of the two breakwaters at 320 degrees. At 50 meters from this alignment, fall to port and round the end of the eastern breakwater about 15 meters off, leaving it to starboard, then proceed into the port.
Night entry is not advised without prior daytime experience. Proceed with care at the entrance and exit because there are shallow areas and a sandbank to avoid. The entrance lights are IsoV4s8m4M and GpD(2)R7s8m3M. Contact the marina on VHF channel 9.
Anchoring is possible 300 meters east of the entrance in 5 meters of water over sand. The marina is at the urbanization Dehesa de Campoamor on the Cartagena-Alicante road, km 47, in the Playas de Orihuela area. The nearest airport is at Alicante, and the town of Orihuela is inland.
