Full Description & Details
Club Nautico Campello is a modern marina on the Costa Blanca coast of Spain, at the edge of the town of El Campello in the Valencian Community. It grew from a small fishing port into a substantial harbour with 474 berths for boats up to 15 metres, plus covered dry storage for around 180 boats up to 8 metres. The marina is a working yard with busy shipyard activity, and many berths are sold or rented as permanent ones, so visiting yachts share the space with local boats.
Protection inside the harbour is good, though a swell can develop in strong winds from the southeast, south, or southwest. Depths range from about 2.9 metres at the shallowest part of the entrance to 4.5 metres in the eastern basin, where visiting boats are often assigned a berth. Maximum draft is 4.5 metres. Mooring is stern to dock with mooring lines, and water and electricity are available at the berths.
The marina offers fuel, showers, laundry, wifi, a chandlery, and repair facilities including a travel lift and crane. Two restaurants sit directly in the harbour, and the town of El Campello is about a 15 minute walk away, with a promenade, restaurants, and shops for provisions. A Volvo Penta service operates in the port. The club also runs a sailing school with sections for children's sailing, dinghy sailing, cruising, fishing, rowing, and kayaking.
Approach with care: the eastern pier head has stones that have slipped and are visible under water in calm conditions, so keep a good distance from it. There are shallow areas in the entrance, with 2.9 metres the shallowest sounding. Contact the marina on VHF channel 9. An alternative is to anchor in 8 to 12 metres over sand about 0.5 nautical miles southeast of the marina entrance. Nearby attractions include the Illeta dels Banyets archaeological site and a watch tower dating from 1554.
How to get there
Approach Club Nautico Campello from seaward, keeping a good distance from the eastern pier head, whose stones have slipped and are visible under water in calm conditions. The entrance has shallow areas, with 2.9 metres the shallowest depth, so favour the deeper water. Contact the marina on VHF channel 9 for berth assignment; visiting boats are often placed in the eastern part of the harbour where depths run 4 to 4.5 metres.
Land access is from the town of El Campello, about a 15 minute walk from the marina, with a promenade, restaurants, and shops. The marina is at Paraje de la Illeta S/N, El Campello, Alicante 03560. For those not taking a berth, anchoring is possible in 8 to 12 metres over sand about 0.5 nautical miles southeast of the marina entrance.
