Full Description & Details
Puerto Deportivo de Zierbena is a municipal marina opened in 2005, located inside the commercial port of Bilbao on the Basque coast of Spain. Despite its industrial setting, it keeps a traditional fishing-village character, with a local gastronomic scene based on seafood.
The marina is fully occupied by local boats, so transient berths are not available. It is about 20 minutes from Bilbao by road, and the nearby Playa de la Arena offers surfing and other beach activities.
How to get there
The marina lies within the commercial port of Bilbao, so the main navigational challenge is passing under the road bridges that serve the port. The air draft under these bridges is low, which always prevents sailboats from passing; motorboats must have folding antennas.
The basin depth was improved by a recent dredging, solving earlier low-tide depth problems. Approach on VHF channel 9 for contact with the marina.
