Full Description & Details

Hondarribia - Aeropuerto, also known as Aeropuerto Kirol-Portua or Beteranoen moila, is a marina in Hondarribia, in the Basque Country of Spain. It sits beside the airport and the Bidasoa river estuary, close to the French border. The marina is part of the wider Puerto Deportivo Hondarribia complex, which has grown into a consolidated facility for the region since opening a decade ago. The old town of Hondarribia is nearby, and San Sebastian lies a short distance away.

The marina offers 670 berths, with a mix of finger pontoons and alongside berths. Protection is moderate; strong westerly and southerly winds should be avoided. The pontoons have been re-piled for stability, and a new pontoon supports safer lifting and launching of boats. The entrance channel has been dredged as part of an improvement plan. Overnight stays are permitted, and the marina reports high occupancy with waiting lists for permanent berths.

Facilities include shore power, fresh water, wifi, showers, toilets, fuel (diesel), and a crane. The fuel station has been fully renovated. The technical area is fully occupied, and the commercial zone hosts regular art and brocante fairs. Two local clubs, the Club Nautico de Hondarribia and Club Izurde, have their bases here, and a tourism office operates on site. Contact the marina on VHF Ch 9, by phone at +34 943 641 711, or via [email protected].

High season runs from June to September, with shoulder season in April, May, and October. More than 500 visiting boats called in a single year, with an average stay of three and a half days. Visitors come mainly from France and Spain, with growing numbers from the UK, Ireland, and northern Europe. Call ahead in high season to reserve a berth, and check local weather and depth at low tide before arrival.

How to get there

Approach Hondarribia - Aeropuerto on VHF Ch 9 to contact the port authority. The marina lies at approximately 43 degrees 22.58 minutes North, 1 degree 47.67 minutes West, beside the airport and the Bidasoa river estuary. The entrance channel has been dredged, but verify minimum depth at low tide before entering.

Strong westerly and southerly winds reduce protection, so check the forecast and avoid these conditions. Land access is straightforward from Hondarribia town, with the old town and its attractions within easy reach. The marina is managed by Euskadiko Kirol Portuak, and the website www.ekpsa.eus provides contact details and further information.

No formalities beyond standard port contact are noted in the sources.
