Full Description & Details
Port de Portbou is a marina of 297 berths at the northern end of the Catalan coast, in the bay of Portbou just south of the French border. The port is sheltered from the tramontana by the Albera mountains, but exposed to eastern winds menus; the harbour office monitors conditions. Berths take craft up to 20 metres LOA, with maximum depth in the marina of 8 metres at the entrance channel at 10 metres. The marina is run by the Consorci Port de Portbou (a partnership of the town council, the Generalitat de Catalunya and the Club Nautic Portbou) and offers 297 moorings, a visitor pontoon and a boatyard. It is 100 metres from the centre of Portbou, where you will find supermarkets, bars and restaurants a few steps from the quay.
Facilities include fuel (diesel and petrol), fresh water, electricity, Wi-Fi and showers. There are also toilets, laundry, recycling, and a sewage pump-out. For maintenance, the port has a slipway, a boat hoist (or crane), a hard-standing area and a repair workshop. Security features include video surveillance and a night watchman. The harbour office is on the quay; the marina has a VHF radio working channel 9. The nearby town also offers car rental and bicycle hire. The German philosopher Walter Benjamin is commemorated in a memorial in Portbou, which is a short walk from the marina.
Overnight mooring is allowed and the marina welcomes visitors year-roundUTE. The entrance channel is about 9 metres deep at its shallowest, but inside the marina the maximum depth is 8 metres; larger yachts should confirm depth and berth availability by VHF or phone before entering. Portbou is exposed to eastern winds, which can make the harbour uncomfortable, but the anchorage is protected from the tramontana. Mooring options include alongside, stern-to, and med-mooring with a cradle. A crane is available for lifting boats out. Contact the office on VHF channel 9 or by phone at +34 972 39 07 12, or email [email protected]. The marina's website is https://portdeportbou.gencat.cat.
