Full Description & Details

Pethi Harbor, also known as Pedi Harbor, is a small harbor on the east coast of the Greek island of Symi, set in a deep inlet south of the main port of Yialos. The harbor is sheltered from the meltemi wind, though gusts can sweep through the inlet. A new cement pier, built in 2015, extends from the north side and offers about 4 meters of depth alongside, though it is not fully completed and some pillars are missing.

The harbor is free to use, including berths along the northern sea wall. The bottom is sand and weed, providing good holding for anchoring in depths of 6 to 10 meters. Cargo ships regularly berth on the starboard side of the pier when looking toward the land, so keep clear of that area.

Amenities on the berths include water, electricity, and wi-fi. Fuel can be delivered by tanker directly to your boat. A mini-market at the end of the pier supplies essentials, and a taverna by the water offers local dining.

The harbor infrastructure is modest but well-maintained. A bus service runs to Yialos every half hour in summer, with the last bus back at midnight, making it easy to explore the island.

How to get there

Approach Pethi Harbor from the east, entering the deep inlet on the island's east coast. The harbor is south of Yialos, the main port of Symi. You can dock on either side of the pier or anchor off in depths of 6 to 10 meters.

The bottom is sand and weed; once you get through the weed, the holding is good. Be aware that cargo ships berth regularly on the starboard side of the pier when looking toward the land, so avoid that area. There is no VHF channel specified for the harbor.

The nearest airport is on Rhodes; from there, take a ferry to Symi and then a bus or taxi to Pethi. The road network on the island is well-developed, and the bus from Yialos runs every half hour in summer, with the last bus from Yialos at midnight.
