Full Description & Details

Coral Cove Marina sits in Chaguaramas Bay on the northwest coast of Trinidad, about 8 nautical miles west of Port of Spain. The bay is sheltered by the Chaguaramas peninsula, which gives the marina protection from the open sea and makes it a popular hurricane-season refuge. The marina offers 50 berths and is known as the only storage option on land or water while sailing in Trinidad.

On site you will find an ATM, a supermarket with post office, a pharmacy, two marine stores with a paint shop, a local restaurant, an Italian restaurant, industrial stores, boat motors, fishing tackle, a dive store, a yacht school, a fire station, and boat repair services including woodworking, mechanics, painting, and antifouling. Anything not on the marina grounds is within a five-minute walk or dinghy ride. The surrounding area has lush hills and beaches along the northern coast, and Port of Spain is a short trip away for historic sites, botanical gardens, parks, stores, art galleries, and restaurants.

Caroni Swamp National Park lies just south of the capital.

How to get there

Approach Chaguaramas Bay from the Gulf of Paria, keeping an eye on the channel markers that lead into the bay. The marina is on the southern shore of the bay, and the entrance is straightforward in daylight. There are no reported hazards in the approach, but always check local notices for any shifting sandbars or mooring buoys.

Contact the marina on VHF channel 68 for berthing instructions and to confirm your arrival time. The marina is about a 20-minute drive from Port of Spain, and taxis are available at the marina office. The nearest airport is Piarco International Airport, about 30 kilometers east, and the marina can arrange transfers on request.

There are no customs or immigration formalities at the marina itself; you must clear in at the Port of Spain or Chaguaramas port authority.
