Full Description & Details

Puerto de Chipiona is a marina on the left bank of the Guadalquivir River mouth, in the area known as Broa de Sanlucar, on the Atlantic coast of Cadiz province. Built for Expo 92 in Seville and later expanded, it is one of the larger marinas in Andalusia.

The town of Chipiona, about 500 meters away, is surrounded by vineyards and offers a typical Spanish coastal atmosphere. The marina is a practical stop for boats heading upriver to Seville, about 54 miles away, or for those crossing to the Donana National Park via Sanlucar de Barrameda.

How to get there

From the west, make for the Picacho buoy, then steer Rv 160 degrees for 2.6 miles to the harbour entrance. From the Strait, pass the Salmedina beacon, leave it to starboard, and set Rv 067 degrees until you cut the alignment of the Perro buoy and the green light of Chipiona, about 2.5 miles from Salmedina. In heavy westerly weather, head for the Perro buoy on Rv 045 degrees to avoid the breakers off Piedra del Tesoro and Piedra Sietebrazas.

The entrance channel is marked by a fairway buoy and two red pillar buoys on the port side; enter on a course of 225 degrees. Depths at the entrance are around 3.5 metres, so take care if there is any swell. Call Puerto Deportivo Chipiona on VHF channel 09 or phone +34 956 373 844.

The marina is often full in high season, so check with the office before arriving.
