Vounaki Marina sits on the western coast of mainland Greece, directly south of Palairos at the foot of the Arkanika Mountains. Its position near the Inland Sea between Lefkas and the mainland makes it a strategic base for Ionian sailing. The marina has been operated by Neilson since 2015 and offers 70 privately owned berths with depths from 2.5 to 8 meters.
Visiting yachts up to 20 meters long berth where directed on a long L-shaped pontoon or on the breakwater quay, with laid moorings at all berths. The breakwater protects the marina from all winds and is lit at night. Water, electricity, and refueling are available on the inner dock.
Showers and toilets are located on the eastern quay, and a small supermarket is on site. Two bars operate at the marina, with restaurants in the club resort and more dining options in Palairos, a 15-minute walk away. The Beachclub adds two pools, tennis courts, and treatment rooms.
Water sports include dinghy sailing, windsurfing, kayaking, and stand-up paddleboarding. The marina is about a 35-minute transfer from Aktion/Preveza airport and a 10-minute walk from Palairos town.
How to get there
Approaching Vounaki Marina is straightforward, with the extensive club resort serving as a navigational aid. The breakwater is visible as you sail closer and is lit at night. Keep a distance from the buoys used by jolly boats due to shallow water. The approach is free of dangers except for a shallow reef about two miles northwest, which is not on the direct route from west or south.
Anchorages are possible north of the harbor in depths of 5.0 to 6.0 meters, with good shelter from prevailing winds. The marina monitors VHF channel 10. By land, the marina is a 10-minute walk from Palairos town, and Aktion/Preveza airport is about 35 minutes away by transfer.
