Full Description & Details
Pilos Marina sits on the waterfront of Pylos town, inside the Bay of Navarino. The bay is known for its natural beauty and the historic Castle of Pylos, which overlooks the area. The marina has been unfinished since 1995 and remains unmanaged, yet it is usable and free of charge.
Local fishing boats and visiting yachts share the quay, and some vessels winter here, though leaving a boat unattended for long periods is not advised due to security concerns. The marina offers 129 berths for yachts up to 30 meters, with a maximum depth of 3.5 meters. A crane is available on site, but formal facilities and services are lacking because the marina is not officially operated.
The Vernicos group owns the marina, and D-Marin has announced plans to develop it into a premium facility, but as of now it remains in a raw, unmanaged state.
How to get there
Approach Pilos Marina from the north, staying close to the northern side to avoid shallow waters on the southeast. There are no formal entry procedures since the marina is unofficially closed. You can berth along the main outer wall or on the finger pontoons, but be aware that some locals may falsely claim ownership of berths.
The town of Pylos is right at the marina, so access to shore is immediate. For formalities, you will need to go into town, as there is no marina office. The nearest airport is Kalamata International Airport, about 40 kilometers away, and the marina is reachable by road from Pylos town center.
