Full Description & Details
Mackay Marina is a large, well-established facility on Mulherin Drive in Mackay Harbour, Queensland, on Australia's northeastern coast. Built in 1998, it sits within the stretch known as the "100 Magic Miles" and serves as a gateway to the Great Barrier Reef and the Southern Whitsundays. The marina has over 400 berths for monohulls, catamarans, power and sailboats from 10m up to 49m, including six Mega Berths with a 55-metre capacity, 12 Big Boat Berths for 30m+ monohulls and 25m+ multihulls, and 32 commercial fishing berths.
It has twice been named Marina of the Year, is a certified Clean Marina, and is the only marina in Queensland with Fish-Friendly Status. The surrounding Mackay Marina Village offers accommodation, food and drink, shops and services, plus a residential area of townhouses and apartments. The breakwater's top forms a two-lane roadway that is a local attraction in its own right.
How to get there
Navigating into Mackay Marina is relatively straightforward thanks to well-maintained channel markers. The marina was designed for the 6.5m tides, with a breakwater made of large rocks. Always consult updated nautical charts and tide tables before entering. The marina is a Port of Entry into Australia, with Australian Customs and Border Protection and D.A.F.F. on site.
Once inside, the tranquil waters and organised layout provide easy access to allocated berths. The marina accommodates vessels with a 3.5m draft at the lowest astronomical tide. Secure car parking is available at the northern and southern ends, accessible only to marina patrons.
